LINUX PEPPERMINT DESKLETS SERIES
We continue our introduction to Linux series with what you need to get started.
LINUX PEPPERMINT DESKLETS WINDOWS 10
That’s the same amount Windows 10 was using on this system just browsing the web.Review this episode: | Note that the total consumed RAM for all of this was roughly 1.7GB. I’m going to show you a video recorded from Peppermint OS using SimpleScreenRecorder, and then list out exactly what was running and what that software was doing. With Peppermint OS 10, I kept piling on activities and waited for the system to buckle under the stress. But each new app opened would hang for several seconds switching between tabs in Edge resulted in an unacceptable delay to load each page. On the Windows 10 side, I managed to open Edge and stream a YouTube video, work on an OpenOffice document, browse the Windows Store and have Telegram open simultaneously. Meanwhile, Peppermint OS used one-third the system RAM out of the gate, meaning I had plenty of headroom for getting stuff done. Not a great first experience, although the CPU eventually settled down and let me get a few things done. This was caused by file indexing, Cortana, and a ridiculously lengthy list of Windows apps and updates being installed. Jason Evangelhoįor the first several hours using Windows 10, the CPU was pegged near-constantly, and memory usage was around 1.7GB of the allotted 4GB just doing basic tasks like browsing the web with Edge. Windows 10's typical CPU and memory usage for the first several hours using it.
